TALKING POINTS

DVC Film vs. "The Passion"

The Da Vinci Code, like the film The Passion of the Christ, provides an unusual opportunity to talk about important spiritual issues. Even more interest will be generated when The Da Vinci Code becomes a film starring popular actor Tom Hanks. Although many people find it difficult to talk about issues of personal faith, both the book and upcoming film will provide opportunities for honest discussion about the most pivotal person in all of human history—Jesus of Nazareth.

DVC a must read?

If I hold to a biblical view of Christianity, why should I read The Da Vinci Code? What is the point of exposing myself to something that could undermine my faith?

DVC is just a novel

Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code weaves fact with fiction. However, the author is not satisfied to say it is only a work of fantasy. On the title page of The Da Vinci Code, the author claims: "All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate." How reliable is this claim?

Using materials to answer DVC questions

Having reading material to hand to a friend can often be helpful. RBC Ministries has provided a resource entitled The Da Vinci Code: Separating Fact From Fiction. It is a 32-page booklet that answers questions raised by Dan Brown's book, The Da Vinci Code.
